DESCRIPTION:The first in a series of three workshops which will involve prayer\, silence and sharing. Participants will have opportunities to consider favourite poems and music and to reflect on them prayerfully. DESCRIPTION:Monthly Mass in thanksgiving for life of Venerable Fr John Sullivan SJ\, and in prayer for his canonisation. Special homily and blessing with crucifix of Fr John after Mass. \nServant of God\, Venerable John Sullivan SJ (1861-1933) was a Jesuit priest with a reputation for sanctity. He was formed in both the Protestant and Catholic traditions\, having been brought up in the Protestant tradition of his father before he was received into the Catholic Church and later entered the Jesuits. Known for his love of the poor\, his life of prayer and fasting\, and his care of the sick\, he spent much of his priestly life in Clongowes Wood College\, Co. Kildare. There was great devotion to him in his lifetime and that devotion has continued since his death on the 19th February\, 1933. Many people believe that his prayers have brought the healing power of God into their lives and his tomb in St. Francis Xaviers’ Church in Gardiner Street\, Dublin is visited daily by those who seek his help. In 1960 Fr John was declared a Servant of God. He was was declared ‘Venerable’ by Pope Francis in November 2014. DESCRIPTION:A building which\, in 250 years of occupancy\, has been known variously as Granby Hill\, Baymount Castle and Manresa House will be the subject of a lecture\, The many lives of Baymount Castle: the history of a Dollymount house\, by local historian Bernardine Ruddy at 7:30 p.m. The castle has been home to a diverse group of residents\, at different times housing a Church of Ireland bishop\, a Catholic girls school and a boys’ boarding school. Its current residents – a Jesuit Community – are the longest continuous occupants of this interesting property since it was leased by George Vernon in 1763. Limited access to the Castle may be allowed to early visitors.

DESCRIPTION:Monthly Mass in thanksgiving for life of Venerable Fr John Sullivan SJ\, and in prayer for his canonisation. Special homily and blessing with crucifix of Fr John after Mass. \nServant of God\, Venerable John Sullivan SJ (1861-1933) was a Jesuit priest with a reputation for sanctity. He was formed in both the Protestant and Catholic traditions\, having been brought up in the Protestant tradition of his father before he was received into the Catholic Church and later entered the Jesuits. Known for his love of the poor\, his life of prayer and fasting\, and his care of the sick\, he spent much of his priestly life in Clongowes Wood College\, Co. Kildare. There was great devotion to him in his lifetime and that devotion has continued since his death on the 19th February\, 1933. Many people believe that his prayers have brought the healing power of God into their lives and his tomb in St. Francis Xaviers’ Church in Gardiner Street\, Dublin is visited daily by those who seek his help. In 1960 Fr John was declared a Servant of God. He was was declared ‘Venerable’ by Pope Francis in November 2014. DESCRIPTION:Manresa offers an opportunity to people on twelve-step programmes to deepen their awareness of themselves as they seek to improve their conscious contact with God “as they understand him.” For very many people\, and especially those involved in a 12-Step Programme\, the Serenity Prayer offers a vision of life that is rooted in faith\, open to new possibilities\, and yet serene in the face of limitations. God\, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference. No need to book. Just come along yourself\, or a friend or anybody who you think may benefit from an evening of prayer and meditation in a safe and peaceful environment. All are very welcome.
