SUMMARY:14 DEC: Advent Triduum Retreat
DESCRIPTION:As the frenzy of the Christmas preparations comes to a climax\, many people long for a few days’ peace and stillness\, away from the mad rush. Our two Tridua here in Manresa offer just such an opportunity. Choose either the first or second week of Advent to spend some time with the seasonal themes. Centered on the themes of Advent and Christmas\, and in an atmosphere of silent prayer and reflection\, these days provide an opportunity for people to get in touch with the real meaning of the season and the real wonder of what we celebrate. \nA reflection will be offered each morning by a Director suggesting how the day’s prayer and silence might lead to a deeper appreciation of the God who comes to us. Afterwards the Triduum Director and members of the Manresa Team will be available for a personal meeting with those who wish. Daily Mass\, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available. Early booking is recommended to ensure a place.

SUMMARY:19 DEC: Venerable John Sullivan Mass
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Mass in thanksgiving for life of Venerable Fr John Sullivan SJ\, and in prayer for his canonisation. Special homily and blessing with crucifix of Fr John after Mass. \nServant of God\, Venerable John Sullivan SJ (1861-1933) was a Jesuit priest with a reputation for sanctity. He was formed in both the Protestant and Catholic traditions\, having been brought up in the Protestant tradition of his father before he was received into the Catholic Church and later entered the Jesuits. Known for his love of the poor\, his life of prayer and fasting\, and his care of the sick\, he spent much of his priestly life in Clongowes Wood College\, Co. Kildare. There was great devotion to him in his lifetime and that devotion has continued since his death on the 19th February\, 1933. Many people believe that his prayers have brought the healing power of God into their lives and his tomb in St. Francis Xaviers’ Church in Gardiner Street\, Dublin is visited daily by those who seek his help. In 1960 Fr John was declared a Servant of God. He was was declared ‘Venerable’ by Pope Francis in November 2014. SUMMARY:29 DEC: New Year 3-day Retreat
DESCRIPTION:This retreat at Manresa\, Jesuit Centre of Spirituality has become a valued way to see in the New Year. The retreat starts on Tuesday evening and continues until lunchtime on New Year’s Day\, offering space to reflect on the time gone by and to ask for God’s grace on the year to come. These days of retreat offer ample opportunity to engage in prayer\, personal reflection\, celebrations of Eucharist and meeting individually with a trained spiritual guide. In an atmosphere of gentle silence\, participants will be helped to ponder Scripture and to learn to recognise the signs of God’s presence in their reflection and in the world around them.
