Pioneer Golf Classic
The Annual Pioneer Golf Classic takes place in Clontarf Golf Club, Dublin, on Friday, July 4, 2008. This fundraising event is open to both Pioneers and non-Pioneers alike. The cost per team of four is €400. Those not in a position to enter a team can sponsor a Tee or Green at a cost of €150 each. Support is welcome, and monies raised will be used to help the Pioneer Association in combating the abuse of alcohol in Irish society. Overview of Pioneers
The Pioneer Association offers adolescents in particular an opportunity to develop their talents and their skills and the ability to make responsible choices. By pledging to abstain from alcohol until eighteen, this decision helps to build character in the individual concerned by overcoming and resisting peer pressure, which so many young people succumb to. Through it they learn to appreciate the proper attitude of moderation in the consumption of alcohol. They also learn to understand the nature of a commitment and the importance of being faithful to one’s promises.
They invite support in educating young people about the harmful effects of pursuing a lifestyle choice encompassing alcohol abuse. The Pioneer Association provides, through its various competitions, opportunities for young people to mix and socialise in a healthy and wholesome manner in an atmosphere of genuine fun.
