The Spring 2012 issue of Studies: An Irish Quarterly Review has been published. The issue is titled ‘Irish Studies’ and leads with The Jesuits and Irish Scholarship by Alan Titley, Emeritus Professor of Modern Irish, University College, Cork.

Other contributors are John McCourt who writes on Joyce’s Life and Letters – a Painful Case? and Michael Paul Gallagher SJ on Revisiting the ‘New Atheism’.

Studies enters its second century and when launching Bryan Fanning’s commemorative volume, An Irish Century: Studies 1912-2012, in Newman House in March, former Taoiseach, John Bruton, pointed out that ‘All commemorations serve an educational purpose’ – the full text of his remarks from the launch are included in this issue.
