The popular Movies that Matter series continues with a new selection of films this Autumn. Each evening begins at 7:30 pm and involves watching a film and participating in reflective discussion guided by Eileen O’Driscoll during which there will be an opportunity to reflect both personally and as a group on the issues and values illustrated. The films from Poland, UK, Australia and Spain portray a variety of issues. Through these films we get a glimpse of what it means to be truly human; nobility of character shines through in them all.
The Film for November: Selma (USA, 2014, 128 mins, Cert 12). This film takes a fresh look at Martin Luther King’s campaign to secure equal voting rights for black people via a march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.
