tcasey_01Critics have given a warm reception to two recent publications by Tom Casey SJ, who teaches in Rome’s Gregorian University.  He co-edited, with Justin Taylor, Paul’s Jewish Matrix (Rome: G & B Press; New Jersey: Stimulus Books, 2011, 390 pp). The contributors include some leading Pauline scholars, such as E.P. Sanders, Paul Fredriksen, Reimund Bieringer and Didier Pollefeyt. Professor Karl P. Donfried commented: ”It tackles a series of issues foundational for the proper understanding of Pauline thought…including how Paul the Jew is to be understood.” Tom has co-authored, with Margaret Brennan Hassett, From Fear to Serenity with Anthony De Mello (New Jersey, USA: Paulist Press, 2011. 146 pp): “A beautiful book that deserves a place on the top of everyone’s desk – to be read daily fifteen minutes at a time. It offers a path to holiness and peace.”
