Jesuit = Value Added
President McAleese honoured the 60th birthday of Gonzaga College by a formal visit on 1 February. In the Library she met students from the Habitat for Humanity project and Young Scientist competition, before stopping at the theatre to see the orchestra in rehearsal. In the Sports Hall she unveiled a plaque commemorating her visit and the anniversary of the College. President McAleese paid tribute to all who work in Gonzaga, and to the Jesuit ethos, which she suggested adds value and valour to the lives of its students – and by valour she connoted integrity and independence as well as courage. She then headed back to the Áras for the dissolution of the Dáil.
