Learning leadership
Chris Lowney, former Jesuit and author of Heroic Leadership, visited the Manresa Centre for Spirituality to meet with fifteen participants who this year completed the pilot Arrupe Leadership Programme, run by Paddy Carberry SJ and Mike Drennan SJ. Chris helped develop a similar leadership project in the US, now running for three years, and he shared the insights they got as a group into further developing the programme. He noted that participants in America were particularly taken by the collective support the group members gave each other, especially in regard to their spiritual growth. He said they saw this as an indispensable tool in the development of their leadership potential. Two volunteers from the Manresa group agreed to follow up on a request from the Arrupe group in the States to explore possible avenues of collaboration.
