Céard atá ag tarlú sa Róimh?
What’s happening in Rome? Big changes are taking place. Pope Francis is telling us that leadership means service, and if those in charge are to serve God’s people they must be in personal contact with those on the ground and walk some of the way with them in so far as they are able. That is the only way to understand the predicaments of ordinary people. So says Frainc Mac Brádaigh SJ in the Eagarfhocal of the Spring issue of Timire an Chroí Ró-Naofa.
Tá athruithe móra curtha i bhfeidhm agus tuilleadh ag teacht. Tá an Pápa Proinsias ag rá leis na heaspaig is leis na cairdinéil gur seirbhís atá de dhíth ar Phobal Dé. Chomh maith le sin, tá Proinsias ag rá linne Pobal Dé, labhairt leis na húdaráis is a mhíniú dóibh na rudaí atá ag déanamh buartha dúinn. Deir sé linn na nithe sin a chur in iúl ar bhealach gur féidir leis na cinnirí iad a chloisteáil, le gur fearr a thuigfidis cúrsaí. Tá an chabhair sin ag dul dár gcinnirí, má tá siad le bheith trócaireach tuisceanach linn. Tá an dara cuid den Sionad ar Chúrsaí an Teaghlaigh glaoite d’fhómhar na bliana seo (4-25 D.F.) Tiocfaidh easpaig as gach cearn den domhain le chéile sa Róimh, timpeall ar an bPápa Proinsias le plé a dhéanamh ar ‘ghairm is misean an teaghlaigh san Eaglais is sa domhan mór’. Ach ní hiad na cinniri céanna atá glaoite chun an dara sionad a glaodh chuig sionad na bliana seo caite. Easpaig tofa as an gcliarlathas logánta a bheidh ag dul chun na Róimhe an fómhar seo chugainn, is ní gá go mba iad sin na cinn feadhna a bhí timpeall ar an bPápa anuraidh. Agus tá athrú eile ann. Tá ráiteas ón gcéad sionad agus 46 cheist a éiríonn as, le plé ag Mórphobal Dé agus tá ár dtuiscint le roinnt ar ár n-easpaig. Le sin a dhéanamh, ní mór fáil go héasca a bheith ar ráiteas an chéad sionaid agus ar na 46 cheist. NÍ mór na heaspaig a mhisniú leis an ábhar sin a chur ar fáil go luath sa bhliain. Ní mór an pobal a spreagadh chun urnaí, chun plé agus chun éargna a ghiniúint ar chonas is ceart léamhanna éagsúla Phobal Dé ar ghairm is ar mhisean an teaghlaigh a chur i bhfocal, sa gcaoi go dtuigfidh na heaspaig iad. Obair mhór! Cuirimis chuige go cruthaitheach, le paisean is le gaois mar a iarrann an Pápa orainn.
There are many interesting articles in the Spring issue of Timire. Dónall MacDónall, Associate Professor in the School of Chemistry, Trinity College writes about the universal prayer intention of Pope Francis for March ‘That those involved in scientific research may serve the well-being of the whole human person’ while Éilis Ní Thiarnaigh reflects on the unique contribution of women to the life of the Church. There are also poetry and cookery columns as well as pages dedicated to young readers. Timire an Chroí Ró-Naofa or an Timire as it is better known is the oldest Irish Language magazine in the world, in print since 1911 and now available on the web. It comes out 4 times per year, Spring Summer, Autumn and Winter. The anchor articles offer reflections on the intentions of Pope Francis for the coming 3 months, and these articles are available to read at www.tearmann.com. Each issue contains a variety of other articles in social, cultural and spirituality areas that would be of interest to Catholic Christian readers. www.timire.ie
