Induction in Kilkee
These happy faces on the beach in Kilkee, Co. Clare, belong to new teachers in Crescent College Comprehensive who are being inducted into its ethos by a two-day period of reflective practice, in company with the Headmaster, Nicky Cuddihy, and the school’s Director of Ethos, Dermot Cowhey. They coped with what is called the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm and its twin components of being a practical teaching framework and a method of communicating Ignatian values. It meant a reflection on their teaching and classroom practice, and planning for their short and long term professional future in the spirit of Jesuit education. The programme worked well, and will be offered to senior teachers as the year passes.
