Rnn archives 2006: In this episode from the RNN Archives September 2006, Eileen Good speaks with Geraldine O’Brien, primary school teacher and author of the book ‘Ready for School – a Parents Guide’ in which they set out practical hints for parents as they prepare for the new pupil’s ‘first day’. They discuss common worries such as how will the children settle in? Will they make friends? Will they cope with a big classroom? What about the discipline of school? And when should parents start preparing? Geraldine notes that “Whether it’s the first in the house to head off to school or someone further down the line, it’s still a day to mark new beginnings”.
