About

Irish Jesuit Communications serves the internal and external communications needs of the Irish Province using traditional and new media. It is an apostolate which promotes the work of Jesuits and of all the apostolates which they run.

The portal Jesuit website www.jesuit.ie is designed, developed and managed by content manager, Dermot Roantree. This site features podcast and video interviews with Jesuits and colleagues on various topical items. The interviews are conducted by the director ofIrish Jesuit Communications, Ms Pat Coyle, who formerly worked as a journalist and broadcaster with the BBC and RTE.

Every two weeks Irish Jesuit Communications compiles an online newsletter (Irish Jesuit News) with news stories, features and diary dates from around the Province. It is emailed to almost four thousand Jesuits, colleagues and friends in Ireland and around the world.

Irish Jesuit Communications also provides media training, social network training and general communications and IT advice and assistance.

The Jesuit Communication Centre was opened in Leeson Street, Dublin in 1989 and run by John Dardis SJ and Alan McGuckian SJ. This was on foot of a desire expressed by the then-Provincial Philip Harnett, that Jesuits respond to the challenges and opportunities offered by involvement with the media.

Irish Jesuit Communications now operates from the Irish Jesuit Provincialate in Milltown Park, Dubin, and works fruitfully with other Jesuit communications offices in Britain, Europe and the US.
