Emergency earthquake appeal for Venezuela
The Irish Jesuits International (IJI) has launched an emergency appeal following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June 2026.
Working alongside its partners, Fe y Alegría and Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), IJI is supporting efforts to provide emergency assistance to communities affected by the disaster.
Donations will help deliver essential relief, including temporary shelter, safe drinking water, protection for vulnerable people, and psychological support for those whose lives have been devastated by the earthquakes.

The people of Venezuela need our support now.
Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela on 24 June.
Thousands of families have lost their homes, many people are still missing, and emergency teams are continuing search and rescue operations.
Tonight, many people will sleep outdoors without water, electricity, or knowing when they will be able to return home. But they are not alone.
IJI and our partner organisations Fe y Alegría and JRS are assessing the most urgent needs so that aid can reach those who need it most as quickly as possible.
Your donation will help provide:
• Temporary shelter for families who have lost everything.
• Safe drinking water and essential relief items.
• Care and protection for the most vulnerable people.
• Psychological support for those affected by the earthquake.
Families have lost loved ones, homes have been damaged or destroyed, and many people are unsure where they will find safety or support in the days ahead.
Your donation today will help provide emergency assistance to those affected, support communities as they begin to recover, and ensure our partners can continue responding wherever the need is greatest.
Please give today. Every donation will help bring hope, relief, and practical support to people whose lives have been turned upside down.

“When tragedy strikes your country while you are far from home, it can be heartbreaking to feel unable to help. In those moments, the empathy and generosity of the people around you bring real comfort. It is also reassuring to know that support will reach those who need it most. My deepest thanks to IJI for this campaign, and to everyone who is able to donate or join in prayer for Venezuela. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Gracias de todo corazón.” — Sonia Obregón, Secretary at Gardiner Street Church, originally from Venezuela
