New job opportunities at Slí Eile
Two job opportunities have opened up in Slí Eile, the Jesuit young adult ministry. The first is for a Musical Director for the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir, an award-winning choir which consists of almost forty young adults and a full band. The second position is for a Project Worker who would develop and facilitate the many events, projects and programmes which Slí Eile organises throughout the year. 2. Project Worker – Slí Eile
Slí Eile is a Jesuit young adult ministry involved in many different projects, actively promoting faith and justice in society today. We have vacancies for a number of positions for dynamic, energetic, and committed persons who thrive in a challenging and rewarding environment.
The positions are:
1. Musical Director – Slí Eile Gardiner Street Gospel Choir
Gardiner Street Gospel Choir is an award-winning choir formed 8 years ago. It consists of almost 40 young adults and a full band. The choir sings at Sunday mass each week and also performs at a number of events and concerts during the year. The position of musical director is key to the ongoing development of the choir and band. The position is part-time.
Ideally the applicant should have:
- Musical training with a third level qualification
- Good knowledge of liturgy and liturgical music
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Evidence of leadership and group management ability
- Proficient in IT skills including knowledge of music software
- An understanding of and empathy with the ethos of Slí Éile- Jesuit Young Adult Ministry
Previous experience of directing choirs and bands, involvement in concerts, creative liturgy, sound engineering, and musical arrangement is desirable.

2. Project Worker – Slí Eile
Slí Eile runs a wide variety of programmes targeted at offering young adults (18-35) a challenging and rewarding experience of faith and justice in society. Such programmes range from gospel choirs, local volunteering in Ireland to international volunteering in Colombia, Jamaica, Zambia and South Africa.
As an exciting initiative of the Irish Jesuit Province, it embodies the spirit of St Ignatius and runs many other programmes/events, which reflect Ignatian spirituality, e.g. Jesuit Volunteer Communities in Ballymun (JVC), retreats, theology workshops, and an accredited certificate in social spirituality.
We have vacancy for a project worker who will develop and facilitate these programmes, and work as part of a dynamic professional team.
Ideally the applicant should have:
- A qualification in a social, religious or community discipline
- An understanding of and respect for work which is faith based
- Good teamwork, communication, and management skills
- An ability to work on their own initiative and be a self-starter
- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of programmes
- Proficiency in using IT software packages
- An understanding of and empathy with the ethos of Slí Eile – Jesuit Young Adult Ministry
Previous experience of managing similar projects in Ireland or overseas is desirable.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
