Sacred Space: Lent Retreat 2025

March 5, 2025 in Featured News, News

The online prayer platform Sacred Space will continue their popular annual online retreats with their Lenten retreat for 2025». The retreat shares the same theme as the 2025 Jubilee Year, ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ in which Pope Francis has asked us to “Fan the flame of hope that has been given to us and to help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision.”

The retreat will commence on Ash Wednesday, 5 March 2025 and continue until Easter Monday, 21 April 2025. The Lenten retreat features a daily opening prayer, scripture reading, reflection and contemplation on the scripture, a thanksgiving prayer and a closing prayer. Each day also features an inspirtational quote from our “Fellow pilgrims” whose words reflect the Gospel message. These inlude saints such as Ignatius of Loyola and Therese of Liseux, and others such as contemplative monk and writer, Thomas Merton and poet Mary Oliver.

An audio link is also available for the entire retreat. The link is accessible via the ‘audio icon’ at the top of the prayer page on the Sacred Space website. The retreat is also translated into different languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Catalan.

Ciara Ó Catháin, office Administrator and Content Editor of Sacred Space shares her insights on the retreat, saying “This retreat is for everyone to use in their own way, you might find it useful to take notes, journal, or stay with a word or phrase that resonates with you for a few moments, or a few days”. She adds “These daily prayer times are invitations to pause, reflect and deepen our relationship with God as we approach the death and resurrection of Jesus. Each day, we will be invited to rest in the loving arms of our God, trusting that he is waiting for us.”
