Belvedere’s athletes were once again crowned All Ireland schools champions. As he lifted the Science cup for the school’s record fifteenth time in succession, Coach Colin McCarthy (pictured), paid tribute to the boys and also to his predecessor Phil Conway, who laid the foundations for the school’s athletic successes over the years.- Bishop Jim Moriarty led an enormous crowd, estimated at 2500, in a Mass at Clongowes for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Fr John Sullivan. The crowd spilled over from the Boys’ Chapel to fill the People’s Church where the Mass was broadcast by live video feed. Still others listened in their cars, which covered every available parking space, including a rugby pitch. Bishop Jim has written to Cardinal Amato strongly commending the cause for John’s beatification. His holiness and healing powers are still fresh and powerful in people’s memory.
