Pulling blocks
Two days ago, 50 Belvederians started their walk from Dublin to Galway, pulling large, square, decorated blocks on wheels, to raise money for St Francis Hospice, Temple Street Hospital, and Guide dogs for the blind. One of the boys explains: “The Block Pull is now in its 25th year and its existence stems from our Catholic and particularly Jesuit ethos in Belvedere College. Central to this Christian ethos is an idea which can be summarised with the phrase “faith in action”. This is a simple idea and basically means that it is important for us not just to follow Jesus in prayer and Mass but also to live out the Gospel values in an active way in our daily life by striving to help others, and doing one’s best to be Jesus for those who need him.”
