Volunteers hard at work

volunteers_01The young people who volunteered for summer work with Magis Ireland are well into their stints in faraway places. Ten volunteers headed off for Kingston, Jamaica, at the beginning of the month, with some heavy work cut out for them in the garden of St Anne’s Primary School. And just after them, a group of sixteen volunteers headed down to South Africa, to continue their collaboration with Irish NGO Friends in Ireland, who work to help vulnerable children in the Eastern Cape. A third group, made up of seventeen trainee solicitors from Arthur Cox, travelled to a small village, Masese, in Western Zambia, where they are living in the village and carrying out building and community work. For a taste of life among the volunteers, check out the Jamaican and South African blogs on the Magis Ireland website.
