FROM THE ARCHIVES [12.09.2013] :: The Nobel Prize-winning poet Seamus Heaney, who died on 30 August 2013, is remembered in this archived interview with his long-standing friend Fr Brendan Duddy SJ. The Irish Jesuit spoke to Pat Coyle of Irish Jesuit Communications about his fortuitous visits to Heaney in St Vincent’s Hospital before he died. He shared his memories of him as a fellow-Derryman and alumnus of the same college, St Columb’s. He also described the time when Heaney surprised students with an explanation of Joyce’s poetry at the Martello Tower in Sandymount, Dublin. Plus more.
