Caring for our common home
In ‘The Pope Video’, Pope Francis asks us to unite in respect for creation and to act to preserve the natural world for future generations. The Pope says “The relationship between poverty and the fragility of the planet requires another way of managing the economy and measuring progress, conceiving a new way of living. Because we need a change that unites us all and that is free from the slavery of consumerism”.
This is the Pope’s prayer intention for this February and he has asked that people of good faith all around the world join in him prayer for this concern. The short video is the second of twelve to be launched in the months ahead. In this two minute film he calls powerfully on believers and non-believers around the world to ‘care for our common home’.
‘The Pope Video’ is a new and global initiative launched by the ‘Pope’s Worldwide Network of Prayer’ and it’s just one of the projects scheduled in 2016 to raise awareness about various issues and challenges facing people around the world today. It is hoped that the videos will reach as wide an audience as possible (at present forty million people in ten different languages) and engage them in the Pope’s monthly prayer intention, each focused on a cause.
