About

The PeopleTalk project is an initiative of the Irish Jesuits as part of their mssion to promote social jusitce. The project seeks to start a national, public conversation regrading the state and delivery of Irish public services in the areas of health, the elderly, the gardai, the enviornment, etc.

Including ordinary citizens as well as local and national goverment representatives, the conversation addresses two underlying questions.

Can public services be better organised to meet citizens needs? What concrete measures can Government and State agencies take to ensure citizen involvement in the design and delivery of public services on a regular basis?

All political groupings in Dáil Éireann have issued a formal statement, including a joint statement from the Taoiseach and the Táiniste, affirming the PeopleTalk projec and its objective of improving the democratic relationship between state services and the citizen.

The PeopleTalk Project, formerly the Conversation on Democracy, is supported by a Board of Trustees drawn from senior politicians, public servants and social and community representatives. The project director is Edmond Grace SJ.
