7. Forcing your way out of a blind alley
Sometimes we end up in a tough situation where it seems that we have no choices left, or that there are only bad choices. This dilemma seems particularly relevant today where the only choice is between the ‘devil and the deep blue sea’. Often the pressure to rush into a bad decision is self-generated and can be very unhelpful. The question is whether there are other choices available to us and whether the spiritual realm (asking God) has anything to offer.
Try this exercise:
Give yourself more time and take the pressure off by telling yourself that there is a solution to this (I have options) and taking off the pressure (I am going to take the time to decide). Ask God for light and guidance. Try to creatively imagine what choices or options you have, no matter how crazy they seem. Then ask yourself which choice is the good one, what will stand the test of time, that you will be glad when you look back on it. (NB. The illusion that you have no options and are out of time is a sure fire road to bad decisions).
