Sacred Space, the online prayer website established in 1999, has launched a new audio reading feature that aims to enrich the daily prayer experience of users by allowing them to listen to the day’s text read aloud by dedicated volunteers.

Director of Sacred Space John McDermott has written a piece on the new product launch which can be read below »

Sacred Space: New Audio Reading Feature

Since its inception in 1999, Sacred Space has continually offered new content every day, helping countless individuals find solace and spiritual growth through guided prayer in the Ignatian tradition. The addition of the Audio Reading feature marks another significant milestone in Sacred Space’s ongoing journey to support its global community.

In a move to make daily prayers more accessible and engaging, Sacred Space’s new Audio Reading feature provides an auditory option for those who prefer listening over reading. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for individuals who are visually impaired, those who have difficulty reading, or anyone who simply enjoys the meditative quality of listening to spoken words.

Much like how the Mass is made up of many different voices from the community reading Scripture and prayers of the faithful, Sacred Space follows the same model with a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time freely to enhance the Daily Prayer for everybody.

What people are saying:

I’ve been turning to Sacred Space each morning for nearly 25 years. It is such a peaceful place to start my day in God. Thank you. And thank you so much for adding the audio option. Just tried it out this morning for the first time and loved it.

Thank you again and God bless your ministry.

If I may, when listening I got in touch with a sense of belonging to a bigger ‘unit’. The impact of the Scripture and the related reflection points felt further enhanced, connecting me deeper to the Trinity, using more senses, in a ‘becoming whole’ way. With ongoing deep gratitude and prayers.

Sacred Space is like a swan. On the surface it’s all calm and graceful, but under the surface we are paddling frantically! This completely new feature is the first new feature in many years. There are many parts of Sacred Space that we are rebuilding and need our attention more, but this new feature was something that we wanted to add to help enhance the prayer and make it accessible to more people. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers who provide the readings. Without whom this would not be possible

To use the new Audio Reading feature, visit SacredSpace.com and follow the on-screen instructions on the Daily Prayer page.

The upcoming ‘Sacred Space Advent Retreat’ will be available with the new Audio Reading feature as well as being translated into many different languages.
