Jim Corkery SJ is a theology professor at the Jesuit Gregorian University in Rome. His Ph.D. thesis concerned the theology of Joseph Ratzinger, the recently deceased Pope Benedict XV1.
In this, part two of an extended interview with Pat Coyle of Irish Jesuit Communications, he assesses how Joseph Ratzinger handled the clerical sexual abuse allegations in the Catholic church both in his role as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and as Pope.
Professor Corkery also shares his initial response when he heard the news that Cardinal Ratzinger had been elected Pope.
