2020: Books of accompaniment
Messenger Publications offer the following calendar and books for the New Year. They aim to equip the reader with useful tools and resources to deepen their faith and understanding of Jesus and his mother.
This very popular calendar includes: The Pope’s Intentions, principal feast days for the year and all beautifully illustrated with stunning photographs.
Mary in Different Traditions: Seeing the Mother of Jesus with New Eyes by Thomas G Casey SJ
In this book, we can learn to see Mary through the insights of other traditions and faiths. It explores the insights of Lutheranism, Orthodoxy, Islam and Judaism, as well as the Eastern-rite Catholics. The book is an imaginative exploration of these other perspective experiences of Mary and the stories they tell about her. If readers can learn to wonder anew about this woman from Nazareth, maybe they’ll find themselves enjoying the even greater wonder of her son, Jesus.
Gospel Reflections for Sundays of Year A: Matthew by Donal Neary SJ
Following his very successful volume for Year C, the author has produced a second volume of Gospel Reflections for the Sundays of Year A of the liturgical year, based on the Gospel of Matthew. These could be used to prepare for Mass, or to reflect on the reading after Mass. They are also an ideal resource for parish clergy in preparing homilies. Fr Neary has drawn on his long experience of pastoral work in Dublin to put together these reflections, and as a result they are always relevant to everyday life.
