Flóisíní San Proinsias: Little Flowers of Saint Francis
Foilseacháin Ábhar Spioradálta, who have been publishing books in Irish on spirituality and culture since 1956 has published ‘Flóisíní San Proinsias’ an Irish language edition of the ‘The Little Flowers of St. Francis’. The book was translated by Seán Ó Muirthile Carraige, one of the last native Irish speakers from the Ros Carbery area of West Cork.
‘The Little Flowers of St. Francis’ contains a collection of popular legends and anecdotes about the life of Saint Francis of Assisi and his early companions. This text, composed at the end of the 14th century, is divided into 53 short chapters that reflect both the historical context and the spiritual teachings associated with St. Francis.
Father Kevin Kiernan OFM will host the book launch on Thursday 19 September at 6pm in the Capuchin Friarary, Church Street Dublin 7. Journalist, author and chair of FÁS publications sub committee Mr Déaglán de Bréadún will launch the book. All are welcome to attend.
There will be free copies of the Irish language edition of the ‘Letters of Saint Clare’ available at the book launch for those that wish to take a copy.
‘Flóisíní San Proinsias’ will also be in Launched in Saint Isidore’s College, Rome at the invitation of Father Micheál Mac Craith OFM on Thursday 26 September 2024.
