‘Is your heart in the right place?’
St Francis’ Xavier Church, Gardiner Street Dublin is closed due to lockdown restrictions, but the annual Sacred Heart Novena is going ahead in a new format.
This year, Fr. Kieran O’Mahony OSA will explore the question ‘Is your heart in the right place?’. every evening at 7.30pm from Thursday 11 – Friday 19 June 2020.
The well-known lecturer and biblical scholar will be focusing on the Gospel of St Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. and will give his input during a special Mass that will be streamed live on the parish website each night of the Novena. It can also be accessed on Parish Radio: Short Wave/FM 27.6021.
Gardiner St PP Fr Gerry Clarke SJ is inviting people from all over Ireland and further afield to join the Mass, with an intention or thanksgiving prayer as they would do during a Novena in normal times. “People can drop their intentions in at the front office of the Church, they can post them in, or put them online via our Facebook page,” he says, adding that “each night of the Novena the parish team will light a candle in the shrine of the Sacred Heart on behalf of all the intentions received.”
Fr Gerry is urging people not to “settle for less during this crisis”. God is waiting for you at the Gardiner St Novena, he says, “with His words of consolation and love”.
Sacred Heart Novena booklets with scripture readings, prayers, and hymns for the Novena will be made available at the front office of Gardiner Street Church, or by post on request, according to Fr Gerry who says the Novena will also be available on the Gardiner St Parish website from 1 June.
You can join the online Sacred Heart Novena using a desktop or laptop computer or smartphone. The webcam is accessible via the Gardiner St Church website: You can also join in take part on Facebook via the Church’s Facebook page.
