Sacred Space launch Novena to Saint Ignatius

Margaret Silf » the much sought after retreat director and popular author of several books on Ignatian spirituality, has written a specially commissioned novena for Sacred Space » the daily prayer website established by the Irish Jesuits over 25 years ago. John McDermott, Director of Sacred Space says he is delighted to announce this, their latest feature, a new Novena to Saint Ignatius Loyola. The novena is available now on their website and via their app on Apple and Android devices. Visit the novena homepage »
Over the coming months the novena will be translated into over 18 different languages, allowing the millions of people who pray with Sacred Space each month from all around the world to pray for Saint Ignatius’ intercession and follow his example of handing everything over to God as expressed in the saint’s ‘Suscipe’ prayer » “Take Lord, all that I am and have. Give me Your love and grace, for this is all I need.”

John notes that the novena can be said at any time of the year, but traditionally people prefer to say a novena leading up to an important feast day or significant day in the life of a saint. “With the feast day of Saint Ignatius of Loyola coming up on the 31 July, it’s an ideal opportunity to celebrate this special feast,” he says, adding that those starting the novena on the 23rd of July can conclude it on the final day on the feast of Saint Ignatius.
Commenting on why the prayer site decided to commission this particular novena John says, “I always found it strange that Sacred Space didn’t have a novena to Saint Ignatius. We have a novena to Francis Xavier which I’ve said many times and enjoyed, so why not Saint Ignatius? I was fortunate enough to be part of the recent Jesuit pilgrimage to Loyola in Spain. While sitting the Chapel of Conversion, I felt it was something I needed to get done before the feast of Saint Ignatius. Fortunately for us, Maragret Silf happily agreed to write the novena”.
Margaret Silf has a strong passion for Ignatian Spirituality that can be clearly seen in this new novena, John adds, noting that this isn’t Margaret’s first time writing for Sacred Space. “She has written several of the daily prayer inspiration points and in 2021 she wrote the Lent retreat for Sacred Space » which was incredibly popular.”
Some of recent feedback received by Sacred Space:
I am a long time Sacred Space reader every morning for more than ten years and I am totally devoted to it and could not find daily strength without it.
I had an urge to pray this morning—-something that has not happened in a LONG time. I turned to Sacred Space to try to guide my prayer. It was perfect for today.
Thanksgiving for Sacred Space. Saint Ignatius must be mightily pleased.
