Jesuits and the Jedi
‘Jesuits & Jedi: What Star Wars Teaches Us About Our Spiritual Journeys’ is the title of a workshop to be hosted at the Belfast Spirituality Centre on Friday 12 September 2025 from 7pm to 9pm ». It will be conducted by retreat giver and guest speaker Eric Clayton, who is also Deputy Director of Communications for the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the US.
Gerry Clarke SJ, director of the Belfast Spirituality Centre, says the workshop is an invitation for people to explore their own spiritual journeys under the guidance of Eric Clayton whose work inspires deeper faith and personal transformation, as well as to confront inner darkness and embrace the light, through storytelling, reflection, and practical tools.
Eric Clayton is also the author of four books, including My Life with the Jedi: The Spirituality of Star Wars ». In this interview with Pat Coyle of Irish Jesuit Communications, he talks about how he sees the spirituality implicit in the Star War films as connecting with Ignatian spirituality, and how people can use the stories of popular culture to fuel their own prayer.
