Pray with the Pope: For the values of sports

In his prayer intention for June 2026, distributed by the Popes Worldwide Prayer Network », Pope Leo invites us to pray “for the values of sport” and that “we may discover in sport a universal language that brings cultures together, unites peoples, and fosters respect, solidarity, and personal growth.”

In his video message, Pope Leo encourages us to reflect on the values embodied in sport and its ability to unite people, break down barriers, and create spaces where cultures and generations can come together. At a time when competition can too easily become mere rivalry and exclusion leaves many on the margins, he reminds us of the true meaning of sport as a school of fraternity, respect, and solidarity.
