‘A Generous Heart: A Daily Prayer Book
Author and editor of Messenger Publications, Fr Donal Neary SJ, has recently published a new daily prayer book entitled A Generous Heart. It features morning, afternoon, and evening prayers, followed by a reflection, and a nighttime Examen prayer. It also includes observations from his editorials in The Sacred Heart Messenger magazine over the ten years of his stewardship.
Arranged by season and theme, Fr Neary casts an observant eye on everyday experiences, significant celebrations, and the changing pattern of life in a pressurised world. His extensive pastoral work enables him to explore beneath the surface of contemporary events – and our reactions to them – to reveal that compassion and generosity in our dealings with others can help find the ‘atmosphere of eternity’ in our everyday lives.

Donal Neary SJ has been editor of The Sacred Heart Messenger magazine for ten years. Prior to that, he served as chaplain at the Mater Dei Institute of Education and as parish priest at Gardiner Street Church, Dublin. Previous titles with Messenger Publications include Gospel Reflections for Sundays of Years A, B and C (2015-2017) », Liturgies with Young People », and The Messenger Advent book (2021).
