Magis pilgrims reach Madrid

Today, 15 August, Fr. Francisco José Ruiz Pérez SJ (Provincial of Spain) will preside at a Mass to celebrate the incorporation of MAGIS into WYD at Nª. Sª. del Recuerdo Jesuit School. And this all day buses have been arriving from all over Spain, Portugal, South of France and North Africa. They are carrying 3,000 young people that have participated in MAGIS, a programme of Ignatian spirituality, and will attend World Youth Day (WYD). All of them will stay at Nª. Sª. del Recuerdo Jesuit School in the Chamartin district of Madrid.
 
MAGIS pilgrims arrive in Madrid for WYD, after a week (from 8 – 14 August) of experiences in groups of 25 people between 18 and 30 years old from different nationalities. MAGIS 2011 is the international Ignatian pastoral experience for youth from all over the world, organised by the Society of Jesus, alongside other religious congregations inspired by Ignatian spirituality. Today begins its incorporation into WYD. After the initial meeting at Loyola (5 – 7 August) and a week of reflection, personal and group experiences, these 3,000 young people will meet together again in Madrid.
 
This afternoon, the Provincial of the Jesuits of Spain, Fr. Francisco José Ruiz Pérez SJ, will preside over the mass that will incorporate MAGIS into WYD. Here, young people, as well as MAGIS volunteers will join in celebration. The Mass will take place at 6.30pm in the courtyard of Nª.Sª. del Recuerdo School (5 Duque de Pastrana Sq. – Subway “Duque de Pastrana” Line 9 – Bus Lines 70, 107, 129, 14, 174). The mass will have a youthful flavour involving music, dancing and artistic expression.
