Bestselling author, Flemish Jesuit Nikolaas Sintobin, has recently published ‘Praying with the Bible’ a guide to praying with bible texts through the lens of Ignatian spirituality. The book is published by Messenger Publications. It features short commentaries, and suggests a number of prayers and meditations to accompany a sequence of fifty Bible texts. The book can serve as a form of retreat for the reader, and Fr Nikolaas has entitled the retreat ’Following Him’.

Nikolaas Sintobin SJ says that the best form of prayer is that which helps us grow in communion with Jesus and God. In this regard, he says, the bible is a very good starting point. He explains that Saint Ignatius of Loyola prayed with the gospels as they give an eyewitness account of Jesus which is a privileged way of getting closer to Him. Fr Nikolaas offers Ignatian insights on the Gospel stories and how we can identify with them in our own personal lives today.
