Volunteers stepping up

February 22, 2011 in General, News

Over 60 young adult volunteers gathered recently for the  first step on their collective journey towards serving communities in Jamaica and South Africa this summer. Selected from a long list of applicants, they were invited to reflect on the challenge and get in touch with their motivations for the trip. In keeping with Ignatian spirituality, each one was given a journal to note their own reflections from the beginning of the journey, right through the experience itself in the summer, and on to the debriefing session following their return in September. According  to Padraig Swan, Director of Magis Ireland, the Jesuit Outreach to Young Adults, “They all stood up to the challenge of making the commitment and embracing this life-changing experience. We wish them well and congratulate them for their efforts.”
