Conall stirs Farm Street
On Trinity Sunday Irish Jesuit Conall Ó Cuinn presided and preached at London’s Farm Street on the subject of Call. Through retelling of scenes from Kevin Costner’s film The Postman, and pointing to John Wesley’s conversion experience not far away in Aldersgate Street on May 24th, 1738 where “I felt my heart strangely warmed”, Conall illustrated how God can call at a specific time and place. At such low moments as we are experiencing in Ireland on the publication of the Ryan Report, all Christians are called to establish new ways of open communication as are found between the persons of the Trinity, especially new ways of communicating the Good News of God’s warmness towards us, even and especially in the face of failure and shame.
