Lecture on Dead Sea scrolls
Milltown Institute and the Church of Ireland Theological College will co-host a lecture on the Dead Sea scrolls by an internationally acclaimed expert, Prof. Hanan Eshel. LECTURE ON DEAD SEA SCROLLS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON JUDAISM AND CHRISTIANITY
Professor Hanan Eshel, currently in the Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology at Bar-Ilan University, Jerusalem will be delivering a lecture on “Dead Sea Scrolls and their Influence on Judaism and Christianity” in the Milltown Institute, Sandford Road, Dublin 6 on Wednesday 23 January 2008 at 8pm.
The event is being jointly hosted by the Milltown Institute and the Church of Ireland Theological College.
An internationally acclaimed scholar and leading expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls and archaeology in the Holy Land, Professor Eshel has published over 150 articles in Hebrew, English and French in international journals on topics relating to the Qumran community, archaeology, Dead Sea Scrolls, and the history of the Hasmonaean period. Among his books are The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Hasmonaean State, and, co-edited with E. Stern, The Samaritans.
