Magis ecumenical event
An ecumenical weekend of 25 young people from eight Christian denominations gave new energy to MAGiS Ireland, which took an active part in the discussions and activities. Facilitators from the Irish School of Ecumenics led them into a better understanding of ecumenical approaches. The effect? “It helped me to articulate my faith and understand others, made me want to learn even more about my own tradition”. At one session participants rotated, coffee cup in hand, between informal sessions on each of the different traditions. With a bell going off every 20 minutes, the experience was somewhere between secondary school class rotation and a speed dating event! On Sunday morning they split into multi-denominational groups to experience Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Quaker, and Romanian Orthodox services. Further group reflection and a group liturgy wound up a highly successful weekend.
