Paul Farquharson RIP
Fr Paul Farquharson SJ died peacefully on Tuesday 30 April in Cherryfield Jesuit Nursing Home.
Fr Paul is well-known for his faithful ministry, in later years, with the cross of Blessed John Sullivan SJ » He often visited the sick in hospitals and at home on request, bringing the cross to them and praying with them and their families.
He was also on call in Gardiner St Church when people, from all over Ireland, would visit the church looking for a blessing with the cross.
Another ministry close to his heart was the St Joseph’s Penny Dinners scheme. Fr Paul collected and coordinated donations to help the Jesuits with the provision of dinners for those in need. Every day over 60 people get hot meals in the Penny Dinner cafe near Gardiner St church.
The following arrangements have been made for his funeral. His remains will be reposing at Cherryfield Lodge Nursing Home from 3-4 pm on Thursday 2 May.
Fr Paul’s funeral Mass will take place on Friday 3 May at 11am in St Francis Xavier Church, Gardiner Street. Burial afterwards in Glasnevin cemetery.
