Fr John Sullivan and the Church of Ireland
Church of Ireland Archbishop Michael Jackson gave the post-communion reflection at the Annual Mass in thanksgiving for the life of Venerable John Sullivan SJ. Diarmuid Martin, the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, was the chief celebrant.
Archbishop Michael Jackson spoke of the common baptism we all share and how Fr John’s baptism allowed him to go on an odyssey, an adventure, where he moved with openness and love from one tradition to another. He spoke movingly of the protection of God that surrounds us from our baptism. He said to be protected by God is to be filled with strength and made holy.
Gardiner St Church was full to capacity on Saturday 20th February, with old and young, healthy and sick from all over Ireland. Fr John’s relatives, Sheila and Peter Lloyd, travelled from England for the event.
