Forgiving our enemies
How realistic is Jesus’ command to forgive our enemies? What does he mean? In a modern-day context are Christians really supposed to forgive and have compassion for people like Vladimir Putin as he continues his war of invasion against the people of Ukraine? Am I expected to forgive and forget the person who continually hurts me?
These are questions that Richard Leonard SJ does not shy away from in this interview with Pat Coyle of Irish Jesuit Communications. It’s the third in a series based on the material in his latest book The Law of Love (Paulist Press) in which the author gives traditional church teaching on gospel values a modern-day make-over.
